Brief Description

We are looking for a budding ICT Technician Apprentice to work in network support, ensuring that the needs of the various teams in the business are met in terms of IT support and to maintain a high degree of knowledge on network systems.

Qualifications Required

To be considered for this role, you ideally will hold a C/4 grade in both GCSE Maths & English, and in three or four other subjects at least. You should have a GCSE, BTEC or A Level in ICT or at least hands-on experience with the workings of computers and IT.

? Full use of Windows 10, knowledge of SIMS and Apple/Mac systems, knowledge of PHP, MYSQL, Javascript, CSS and HTML are desirable but not essential.

Training to be Provided

You will be enrolled on to the award-winning Microsoft Partner Apprenticeship Programme. You will work towards gaining skills across a variety of technical areas including MTA Cloud Fundamentals and MTA Network Fundamentals, these are globally recognised certifications, you will also gain a City and Guilds Diploma in Coding and logic and mobile and operating systems. This will also extend to business processes and project management.

Future Prospects

On successful completion of the Level 3 apprenticeship, potentially a Level 4 apprenticeship may be available. On completion of a Level 4 apprenticeship, there may be the potential for a full time IT Technician role.

We are looking to recruit an ICT Technician Apprentice who is a hardworking, organised individual with flexibility and a willingness to learn. The successful applicant will be expected to represent the company in a positive manner and to treat all visitors with respect, courtesy, and consideration, to ensure that every effort is made to satisfy reasonable requirements and assist in the maintenance of an attractive welcoming campus. You will be expected to carry out duties correctly and promptly in a good working atmosphere and to assist in the creation of a safer environment by adhering to Health & Safety Regulations and agreed Codes of Practice for employees. Attendance at training courses may be required as part of professional updating.

As a Microsoft Infrastructure Technician Apprentice your main roles and responsibilities will include:
? Providing technical support on all hardware and software issues.
? Investigating and where possible repairing faults.
? Liaising with ICT support companies re maintenance issues.
? Advising on purchase of hardware and software.
? Set up new equipment and ensure that it is suitable for the user needs.
? Maintain the network to ensure that it performs efficiently.
? Maintain web applications.
? Regularly check all IT equipment.
? To manage printers and printer quotas.
? Investigating and testing new systems and give technical advice on ICT developments within the company.
? Installing and upgrading software.
? Keep abreast of software and hardware developments both in the education and private sectors.
? Loading new software to the network.
? Administer the use of the internet.
? Ensure that back up procedures are maintained.
? Ensure that virus protection is up to date all the network?s computers and laptops.
? Participate in discussions with users to understand their ICT requirements and recommend solutions to meet their needs in terms of hardware and software.
? Provide network and peripheral support to staff during lessons.
? Regularly checking file storage and memory capacity. Carrying out housekeeping as necessary.
? Be familiar with common software and offers advice to users.
? Set up new users on networks when required.

General Administrative Duties
? To assist in the on-going development of ICT systems to enable the delivery of an electronic classroom and the delivery of future administrative systems.
? Maintain an awareness of new ICT products and services and ensure that information is shared within the organisation.
? Security mark and record all new IT equipment arriving and maintain up to date records.
? Work closely with staff to ensure the efficient use of networks the networks.
? Provide training to staff and governors.
? Provide support, guidance and training to staff from other places.
? Liaise with staff on a daily basis to support the efficient use of ICT equipment.
? Support teaching staff in the use of ICT based activities, and provide assistance to groups of pupils in the use of ICT- this may include delivery sessions to whole class/groups of students under the overall direction of the teacher.
? Provide technical support and assistance on staff training and deliver in-house training for staff, including the preparation of guidance on the use of ICT for staff and pupils.
? Such other duties as may reasonably be allocated by the Executive Headteacher or other delegated officers, within the purview of the post.

? Ensuring equipment is maintained to a safe standard.
? Ensuring that all the ICT legal requirements e.g. licensing are adhered to.
? Adhering to company policies and procedures.
? Data Protection Act.
? To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
? To contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the organisation.
? Appreciate and support the role of other professionals.
? Attend relevant meetings as required.
? To participate in training and other learning activities and performance management as required.

This combines online technical training within a virtual classroom, as well as real-world and practical experience with your employer. The certifications you gain are highly respected and globally recognised. The skills, knowledge and experience you will gain whilst on the programme are invaluable, giving you the best possible start in your professional career within the IT industry.

About the Company
Situated in Romsey, a very pleasant abbey town in the southern Test Valley, our client is a school that opened in 1969 and was built on land formerly in the ownership of Earl Mountbatten's Broadlands Estate, where the school enjoyed the patronage of Lord Louis until his assassination. They are honoured that his great granddaughter, The Honourable Alexandra Knatchbull, is their current patron. The school is one of the largest and most successful co-educational comprehensives in Hampshire. Their intake is 284, and there are currently 1420 students on roll. The school serves a predominantly rural catchment area extending from the boundary of Southampton to the boundary of Wiltshire. They are the larger of two secondary schools in the town.
