Brief Description

Based at Secondary School in Kingston upon Thames, you will be responsible for resolving problems associated with operating systems, networks, software, hardware, printers etc. This can be both remote and in-person across the whole school estate.

Qualifications Required

GCSE Maths & English (Grade C/4 or above)

Training to be Provided

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communication Technician qualification:
The qualification has core knowledge elements, before branching out into one of the following pathways:

• IT Support Technician
• Network Technician
• Digital Communications Technician

Your Tutor, Pathway Planner and Employer will decide the best pathway for you to follow.
All training is delivered online in virtual classrooms twice per week
You will undertake Functional Skills for English and/or Maths if needed 

Future Prospects

On passing your apprenticeship, there may be an offer of a progressive step in some cases, onto our Level 4 Network Engineer apprenticeship programme or full time role..

Roles and responsibilities;

Service desk support– diagnosis of IT issues and supporting users remotely using remote connection tools.
Installation of new software and hardware
Maintain and fix other computing equipment
Assist in system upgrades and system maintenance
Assisted site visits to schools alongside field technicians, to support with issue resolutions
Liaise with third party suppliers such as Internet Service Providers and vendors
Support with technology asset management
Support Technician Duties:

Install and configure relevant software and hardware as appropriate for example: mobile apps, printers, projectors, scanners and cameras.
Address IT issues by prioritising in response to customer service level agreements
Administer security access requirements and permissions for stakeholders escalating as necessary for example password resets
Support the roll out of upgrades or new systems or applications
